Cirrus CEO Wouters Explains the Company’s Approach to Economic Challenges
On the last weekend of June, 2009, COPA and Cirrus Aircraft held their seventh annual “Migration,” a yearly invitation to all Cirrus owners and associates to travel to the company headquarters in Duluth, Minnesota. Over 100 Cirrus aircraft and over 300 registered attendees partook in the event’s presentations, seminars, and social gatherings.
This year also gave “Migration” attendees an opportunity to formally meet the company’s newly appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Cirrus Aircraft, Brent Wouters. Just seven months earlier, Alan Klapmeier announced that Wouters would be elevated to C.E.O. effective February 1st of this year. Wouters had served as President and Chief Operating Officer since early 2008.
Drawing from his experiences in both business and aviation, Wouters immediately faced the challenge of unusually tough market. Responsible for handling the day-to-day operations in Duluth, Wouters has set forth an aggressive company strategy to combat aviation’s difficult economic year. Aero-TV spoke with Wouters about how Cirrus Aircraft has tackled this challenge and the changes that have been made in order to guarantee success.
