While many either celebrate or bemoan the inauguration of Donald Trump to a second term as President, there was little doubt that there were serious changes, and possible bottlenecks in the wind. Where the long-awaited and much needed MOSAIC rule is concerned, the limbo appears to be getting stretched even further. The LAA has released MTD-01-2025 -- for the 'Inspection of horizontal stabilizer (tailplane) attachment brackets and associated hardware for cracks, looseness and other forms of distress' is issued for Zenair CH601, CH650, CH701, CH750 and variants of these four models. Some Portions of Either (Possibly Both) Aircraft Are Reported Down In The Potomac

ANN Update (01.30.25, 1030ET): After a tough night searching, the rescue operations have turned to recovery... there were 60 pax on the CRJ, along with 4 crew. Three soldiers were aboard the BalckHawk which was on a training mission. No survivors are expected, leaving a toll of 67 souls lost. The blame game has already started in earnest, conspiracy whack jobs are foaming at the mouth and the general media proves once again that it has little skill in reporting aviation topics... sigh. We will update htis story this afternoon after we source a few issues associated with this tragedy... which is likely to have long-term consequnces.

USCG Medevacs Man From Vessel 50 Miles Off Galveston

Crewman Found 30-Year Old Unconscious

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 30-year-old man from a vessel located 50 miles off Galveston, Texas, on January 25, 2025. At approximately 5 p.m. local time, watchstanders of Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston received a medevac request from a crew member stating that a 30-year-old male was found unconscious. The watchstandes consulted with the flight surgeon on duty, who recommended a medevac operation be carried out.

NTSB Prelim: Vans Aircraft RV-10 (Fullerton Accident)

On January 2, 2025, about 1409 Pacific standard time, an experimental amateur built Vans Aircraft RV10, N8757R, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Fullerton, California. The pilot and passenger were fatally injured, and there were 19 ground injuries, 8 of which were serious, and 11 minor. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations 91 personal flight. On the day of the accident a witness, who was an acquaintance of the pilot, observed him taxi the airplane from the pilot’s hangar in the southeast corner of the airport towards the runway 24 runup area.
