B-29 Doc To Be At World War II Weekend In Reading, PA

Joins Gathering Of Warbirds, Reenactors At 34th Annual Event

The historic B-29 Superfortress “Doc” has been added to the list of aircraft that will attend the 34th annual World War II Weekend at the Reading Regional Airport/ Carl A. Spaatz Field (KRDG) in Reading, Pennsylvania, running June 6-7-8, 2025.

Doc is one of only two remaining B-29 Superfortress bombers still flying today. She will be available for flight experience rides as well as ground and cockpit tours during the event hosted by the Mid Atlantic Air Museum, located on the north side of the airfield. That is also where the flight line with about 80 WWII aircraft, food vendors, exhibits, entertainers, special guests, and the 20-acre reenactor encampments are located.

Sean Elliott, B-29 Doc Aircraft Commander said, “Honoring the legacy of the Greatest Generation and those who answered the call to defend freedom during World War II is our mission. Partnering with the Mid Atlantic Air Museum for its annual World War II Weekend provides a unique opportunity for people to get up close and personal with history and climb inside rare warbirds to learn the stories and legacies of those who designed, built and flew these historic airplanes during the war.”

The Boeing  Company built 1,644 of the B-29 Superfortresses in its Wichita, Kansas, plant during World War II.

Russell Strine, Museum President, said, “The Mid Atlantic Air Museum is pleased to welcome Doc back for its second appearance at our event, this time for a full appearance including airshow flying and non-stop rides during the event.”

Tickets for flight experience rides are available for booking on the B-29 Doc website.
