Intended For Newly Established Regional Carrier

Algerian flag carrier Air Algérie announced it placed an order for 16 new ATR 72-600 aircraft to be deployed in a newly-unveiled regional airline to be known as Domestic Airline. The new carrier will join three other Air Algérie subsidiaries–Air Algérie Catering, Air Algérie Cargo, and Amadeus Algérie.

The agreement includes an ATR 72-600 full-flight simulator that will be installed in the airline’s existing training center. The new aircraft represent the largest order in ATR's history from an African operator and are scheduled for delivery beginning in 2026. They will be powered by PW127XT turboprop engines.

At the signing of the agreement, the two companies celebrated their long-standing relationship which now goes back more than twenty years. Air Algérie currently operates 12 ATR 72-500s as well as three ATR 72-600s from previous orders in 2008 and 2014.
